1.11 level HSV2 HerpeSelect 1 ELISA IgG test result how accurate

I got test results pos for hsv2 1.11 today... Neg for HSV1 I have ZERO symptoms. I was tested a year ago and negative. I was involved with a cheater for 6 mos before getting my current boyfriend of 4 months who is freaking out.....I understand the result could be accurate considering, however if I have zero symptoms, and both men have zero symptoms and their tests are negative, is it possible this low index is a false positive? I asked the OB this and she completely dismissed me. I have read online any index below 3.5 possibly is a false positive. Does anyone know the % of accracy of this test and should I be re tested? And if so which test? Westen Blot or the IGg test again? Should my OB re test? Do I contact my primary or pay out pocket for an independent lab?

Any feedback.......I am confused. Thanks

I agree. If your past partner and current partner both tested negative, you tested negative before and never had symptoms, there is probably a good chance this is a false positive.

You can get another IgG ELISA test done but it may stay a low positive. Also, if you get the IgG test done, depending on your insurance, it may be less expensive to go straight to an std testing center that offers the IgG test.

Otherwise, cut to the chase and contact the University of Washington directly or Terri Warren at Westover Hights clinic to get the Western Blot test done.

You resd correctly as anything less than a 3.5 is suspect for a false positive. Your 1.1 has probably an 80% chance of being a false positive. Retest in a few weeks and see if that numeric value goes up by a good margin or becomes a negative. Hsv2 tests are very sensitive and can pick up other odd protiens.
