What dosage of antiviral medication I should take for ghsv1

I recently read that antiviral treatment  isnt as strong for type 1 as it is for type 2, why is that? And how much should I take to effectively decrease the risk of transmission?

Yes you can transmit herpes even while on antivirals.

you treat genital herpes the same regardless if it's hsv1 or hsv2.

Most people who have hsv1 genitally, don't require daily suppressive therapy to reduce ob's or protect a partner. Are you having frequent recurrences?

Hello grace, i haven't had one in over a year. So does antiviral medication help reduce asymtomatic shedding? Because that's why I'm taking it because I'm afraid of the asymtomatic shedding, I've been having unprotected sex and thought antiviral medication would help

In theory it may reduce shedding days in a year from 15 to 8. Is this worth a daily dose?

If your partner already has HSV1 then there really is no need for antivirals (to reduce shedding) as this partner will have more immunity than the antivirals could ever provide.

So pretty much everyone with ghsv 1 will asymtomaticlly shed up to 15 days?

That's an estimated average, some more, some less, some not at all!

Note that shedding does not equate to infectiousness. Most instances of shedding involve an insufficient amount of the virus to result in infection.

Ok thank you so much, ifornyour response last question, do wit know if a low immune system is equivalent to more recurrences and shedding?

Yes it is. However there is no real way of knowing whether your immune system against HSV is better or worse than average. Many people think they have a poor immune when actually they don't. Just because you seemingly get more colds than another person does not necessarily mean your HSV immune system is below par.

Well I know I have a poor immune system I have lupus and have to take mess to suppress it. So shouldn't I be having more recurring outbreaks? And does his mean I shed more than average?

No lupus is an overactive immune system not a poor one. Something that is quite debilitating in severe forms.

Hence there is no reason to suspect that your immune system is compromised in terms of addressing HSV, it may even be better than average.

Yes I know it's overactive immune system but the pills I take (prednisone) suppress it.

Idk maybe I'm a bit to paranoid right now but like i said I've  been having unprotected sex and I'm really terrified of infecting my partner.

One small randomized, controlled study found that it reduced outbreaks by 2.4 per year. Other studies found no benefit.
