2nd test after HSV2 1.7

I was recently tested and received a HSV1 10 and HSV2 1.7... After doing research this can clearly be a false positive. How should i go about getting another test? Just go to a clinic? any other suggestions?

Make sure your test is an igg test and not an igm. The igm test is not reliable and pretty much useless

You csn try another igg. If that comes back low pos then I would get the westernblot. If it comes back neg then your good. False negatives are not an issue with this test. Low false positives are

Thank you, after reading up on the subject i thought the same. Still need to have a very awkward conversation :( Probably going to be a devastation blow to our relationship.

Just out of curiosity what are your credentials?

That is a red flag. Many false positives for hsv2 come from people with hsv1. Cross reaction is common. I would be very surprised if you have hsv2

Sometimes the test picks up odd protiens and it may take time to clear. If you test again and you get another real low pos result then I would seek out the Westernblot.
How long was this test after your last exposure?

I have sex regularly with a condom with one female partner for 3 months, she last tested negative a few months ago ... Before that I had multiple partners but always practiced safe sex. They were "clean" but of course now I'm learning test don't automatically test for herpes. Especially with my HSV1 being so high and the HSV2 so low isn't that a red flag.
