Medical and ethical questions about HSV -1 ?

Hello everyone,

First sorry for bringing this topic over and over again. I got diagnosed with HSV-1 a couple of weeks back and am still in “my life’s over” phase. So, bare with me

Details :
I am not sure where I have it. It’s something that I acquired recently. Probably a couple of weeks back [I had a full STD check last year and eveything was clear]. There was a good make out session and also I had unprotected oral sex.

Now to the questions
1) Its been 4.5 weeks. I had cold/flu like symptoms after week 2. Thats why I got tested in the first place. I have no visible outbreak symptoms at either place - No blisters, sores. I am having this itching sensation at my anus region. But I have been getting that even before this - so probably a bacterial infection ?

2) if I am in the category who gets their primary outbreak after an infection, how long does it usually take to get one ? I am talking about the average ? Not the range

3) For people with no severe outbreak or no outbreak at all, is it reasonable to say that they are more immune to herpes and so comparatively less asymptotic shedding

5) Can I just assume I get cold sores (a better way to put it for my peace of mind) for now, since location is not finalized ?

4)  Now to the ethical question - I know its a huge debate. So, I don't want a single persons opinion here. From what I see, Medical community is fine with not disclosing on certain cases from a pure medical standpoint (provided all precautions taken). I could be wrong here.
So, it would be great if someone can point me to a Poll or reply with the results of a poll here

I am someone who finds it difficult to talk to girls. That itself makes finding a girl very difficult for me. Now if you add that ethical part, it almost zero chance of meeting a girl that would accept me. :(

Hi before going into a long post what test did you take to confirm hsv1 and what were the numbers that came up. I suspect you have oral hsv1 from child hood given what youve stated.

It was HSV-1 IgG - 0.96
I tested my status last year and it came out negative. So, its not something I had from childhood.
Plus, I got this flu like symptom exactly two weeks after the suspected encounter and when I tested I got this 0.96 value since it was early stage at that time. I gave another test two days back ( two months passed now) and waiting for my results. I am expecting the number to go up since I should have developed enough antibodies now
your test doesnot  show early stage hsc it shows that your negative. how long after the exposure did you test?
also sores  appear before flu like symtoms so you cant use that as a symptom
Hmm. I didn’t know that sores will appear before flu during primary outbreak. Anyway the results for the new test should be back anytime. Will update here.
thanks Dave
Just got the results back. Its again in the equivocal range

Earlier it  was   0.96
now it is 0.91 (2.5 weeks later )

The physician is suggesting since its multiple equivocal results back to back, probably I am positive for HSV-1.
You dont have hsv1
May I know why do you say that ?  Can other infections in my body tamper with the HSV test numbers ? I really really want your statement to be true.

The test results clearly say its in equivocal range. If I got this high negative or low equivocal number the first time because of a false test, the probably of me getting similar numbers second time as a false test is very less right ?
what does equival Mean to you?
it means "open to more than one interpretation" and ive been doing this for many years and having 2 negatives, meaning below 1.2 testing at least 12 weeks post exposure would be negative in the end and testing at 8 weeks post exposure is a good indicator as a low positive would show at 8 weeks most of the time. how soon after esposure did you do the 2 tests?
It was done at 3 week (0.96) and 5.5 weeks (0.91) post exposure
your negativve
Thanks Dave. For now I will move on with my life that I am mostly negative. I will take another test 12 weeks post exposure to officially confirm my status
