Ongoing Herpes 2 symptoms?

I had a positive blood test for HSV2 over a year ago after experiencing tingling, redness and itching in my groin area. (1.31 with 0.90 as the negative baseline)  I have never had any open sores but the other symptoms are almost constant.  I have taken valtrex but the symptoms do not really change.  I have tested for other types of STDs and all are negative.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?  Any recommendations on other treatments?

Grace,
I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and received a visual exam and was given a prescription for an antifungal cream.  The cream has not really worked and I am supposed to go back for a followup next week.  There was a discussion of some testing if it did't clear up.  Do you have any suggestions for what tests might be most useful in my situtation.  Thanks,

Thanks Grace.  One final question on this.  Is it common to have tingling, itching and mild discomfort in the groin and buttocks area that would result from a herpes infection.  Everything I have read indicates the symptoms clear up and come back periodically.  These symtoms have been there for a year constantlly.    I am just not sure where to turn. I have run multiple std panels and they have come back negative.  I really appreciate your help.  It has given me confidence to keep trying to get to the right person for help on this.

herpes symptoms are constant and don't vary in their degree of severity throughout the day.

Thanks Grace. I will get further testing.  Are the tingling and itching sysmtoms that are more significant later in the day common symptoms of herpes or more likely and infection or other something else.  I also recently did a complete std panel that all came back negative.
Thanks,

your hsv2 igg was a low positive and will need confirmed with further testing.  your provider should've never given you valtrex based on that low igg :(

at this point, seek out a herpes WB if you are in the US to confirm your status.
