Misdiagnosed?????? ::confused:::

so I recently went to my OB Because all of a sudden I had a fishy odor in my vagina and It hurt to pee and was itching....I chalked it up as a Yeast infection because I had one before but I decided just to make sure to get it tested. She said I had a Bump on my Cervix which could be herpes or Baceterial Vagnosis...She told me it was a positive on the BV So she gave me the medicine for the BV and wanted me to wait for my results for the herpes...Now she got this from a Pap smear...I took the Pills for the BV And I was cured was feeling better and everything was ok my doctor called me back to let me know i had herpes...then later called me back to let me know I had a Very abnormal Pap smear and I have to go back to get a "special" doctor to look at it....

As far as the herpes go I dont get how I have it....Like I know its possible but I have no symptoms last time I went i was good and I was wondering does my abnormal pap smear and the BV be the reason of this misleading diagnosis...Like should I take a blood test becuase she didnt prescribe anything she said i dont need it....Which is confusing me......

What should I do?!

You can diagnose herpes from a pap but it's not the best way to do it.  What happens is when they are examining the pap under the microscope in the lab ( or more likely in the machine - most are automated now ) , they saw cells that were indicative of herpes.

At this point it's too late for a lesion culture and typing. I recommnend calling your doctor on monday and asking them to order up a type specific herpes igg blood test so that you have a baseline herpes status. How long ago was it that you last had sex? do you have a regular partner? if so then they'll need a herpes igg blood test for hsv1 and hsv2 too to see what their status is.

The fishy odor was from the vaginitis you had.  Sounds like your doc treated that.  It also sounds that since even though they suspected herpes, since you weren't in too terrible pain or bothered from the ob that they chose not to treat it. It's ok not to treat herpes - treating it just helps things heal faster.

she just did a normal pap smear lke swiping it with the brush i didnt do a blood test but she said i have a blister on my cervix and it could be herpes so i guess she swiped the blister or something and told me i had herpes but again she slo told me it "could be" herpes or BV I took the medication for BV and I WAS FINE...So Im confused as of what exactly does tha mean or if it was really herpes or misjudge...do you think I should just get a second opinon using a blood test?

I am curious how she diagnosed you with Herpes. Was it just a visual inspection of the bump or did she swipe the lesion or do a blood test? Grace needs to chime in here whenever she wakes up because I don't understand how non herpes medication cleared your bump up and I don't think odor is a symptom of herpes.. Somethings smells fishy here (no pun) so Grace, what do you make of this?

she said it was just a bump that could have been herpes or BV and she gave me the medication for BV and after I took it I was fine!....didnt feel like i had an outbreak more the less the BV and the medicine cleared it up...She diagnosed me with herpes but i was not prescribed any medications for it... and I have to go back to do more testings because there was something else wrong with my pap smear. can other problems take affect on the diagnosis when it is diagnosised through a pap smear?!

I think you should come to grips with the fact that you have herpes. The symptoms from herpes varies from very mild to extreme to nothing at all. Your symptoms are somewhere in there. What did the bump look like and did it ever ulcerate? Just curious what the Doctor saw in there.
