Multiple Yearly Outbreaks

Hi to all,

I feel like I must be a freak case of herpes because I've had HSV-2 in my genitals for 22 months now and everything i read about the virus seems not to apply to me.  Even after nearly 2 years i still get outbreaks about every 5-6 weeks or so and its completely strange to me. I keep reading about how people "will experience outbreaks up to a few times a year" but in my case its practically every month. I am healthy, I even had my blood tested and the results came back excellent. Ive even tried all sorts of health diets, even vegan, and nothing seems to work. I refuse to take acyclovir, valtrex, any of that stuff because I've read that they're hard on the systems and that the results aren't that much better than natural methods. So i eat loads of garlic, don't drink or smoke, stick to foods with a high Lysine to Arginine content, even spray hydrogen peroxide on my area after i bathe to keep the area "clean" among other things and i still get outbreaks all the time, over 10 a year.

Im sorry for the long post, but i need to explain why i feel like my case is that one in a million case.  What is wrong with my immune system? Or do i have some super strain of herpes? Is there anything other than taking meds that i can do to be in that group of people with only a few outbreaks a year? I just recently started dating a girl for the first time after a year and a half of being afraid to open myself up to anybody and it just worries me that i may never be able to love freely again. Thank you for your time..

Please elaborate on "Forget blood tests, no lesion - no way to determine".  It sounds like you (and your partner) experience lesions.  And have confirmed diagnosis.

So what are you trying to say?  Is your bloodwork still negative?  If so, are you taking anti-virals?

Your not a freak, I have had constant symptoms for years.  It never goes away, you just want to do yourself in sometimes (if it were not for my family???) I've had my genital herpes confirmed by swab, (two years after half a dozen doctors and 3 specialists told me my symptoms where due to anxiety. Shows you how consistently worthless the medical profession can be.  Forget blood tests, no lesion - no way to determine.  Simple as that and not all of us develop obvious lesions.  Consider yourself lucky you don't suffer chronic daily pain like me.

Yes shedding occurs about that often and if they are clear liquid blisters have them swabbed just to confirm. If there not herpes could be an allergy reaction. Most with hsv2 tend to decrease over time.

Hi Life360,

Thank you for responding..i cant imagine how they would not be outbreaks..theyre all the same..lilltle bubbles filled with clear liquid..

Does this also mean that I am shedding at a very high rate? Some sources say that people shed HSV2 aroud 10% of days, but im inclined to believe that my rate is much higher, so on days when I have no symptoms am i most likely shedding those days?

Hi, first of all you need to confirm these are indeed outbreaks. You might want to have one of the monthly ones swabbed within 48 hours after appearing. If they are herpes outbreaks and your having that many, you would need to go on suppressive antiviral treatment if you want to get these under control. You can download "the updated herpes manual" by terri warren for some other remedies but the antivirals, with present day knowledge, would be the only real alternative that will work.
