Genital Herpes??

I had vigorous sex back in June which resulted in crucial pain during urination the next day. My partner is a little larger than usual and his penis does touch me near my urethra causing friction in some positions I went to the doctor and was told that I had an abrasion. I was diagnosed with a UTI. I had my pap done at this visit as well, and chly. and syph. test done. Pap came back normal and STD test were negative. I was given antibiotics and was fine in 3-4 days. I have been having sex maybe every week or two June-September with no problems. I had vigorous sex again a little over a week ago and had the same problem during urination it burns my skin during the flow the next morning. I noticed during sex again that his penis causing friction near my urethra and I try to keep him from that area, because it's not comfortable. Well I went to the Dr. again I had a UTI, and was tested for STD's through a blood test. She told me that I had an abrasion and she could hardly see it. The antibiotic that I was prescribed cause me to have an reaction, it made my entire vaginal area sore from taking 3 pills, so I stopped taking the meds, and my symptoms cleared over night. I did go back to the dr and got different antibiotics which I am still taking. My dr called me on Tuesday and told me that My HIV (neg), Gon, Syp, Chly..(neg) herpes (positive). And pretty much have a good day.. Didn't ask if I had any questions, make a follow up with obgyn, come by and get education on the virus... I am lost.

Could my abrasion that the dr said I had been an outbreak? If so, can it be worst later? Because of it being so small.. Do you think friction in the urethra area during sex causes it? It only lasted for about 3-4 days with irritation to the vagina skin during urine stream.

Definitely give the clinic a call ( probably will be monday at this point I'm guessing ) and ask them to please read you your herpes test results and write them down to post here in this post.  I just need the numeric results - ie hsv1 igg 5.8 and hsv2 igg .34 or whatever they are. If they only give you one number like hsv1/2 igg 56.4 or something, then they tested you wrong and it'll need repeated. I totally agree with joseph's suggestion of writing down questions for when you talk to your doctor too!

could your recent symptoms have been a herpes ob? Yes indeed it could be - so could the uti symptoms. Did they do actual urine testing for the uti or just say it was a uti based on your symptoms?

Your partner is also going to need tested for herpes to know his status too. He'll need to get a type specific herpes igg blood test done. I can help with his results too.

The herpes handbook is a free resource to learn the basics at - www.westoverheights.com. I recommend you both take the time to read thru it this weekend, write down your questions and once you get better answers about your own test results and he gets his results, we can much better help you with all of this :)

Thanks for the advice.  The Dr. did actually go a urine testing, and sent it to the lab to test cultures... I had a little blood in my urine and large leukocytes.(Friday) When I went back to the Dr on Tuesday I had no blood in the urine and small leukocytes and my urine was still cloudy.  Take note that I did stop taking my antibiotics on Saturday because of the reaction that I had from Cipro. My symptoms cleared up by Monday so in 3-4 days.

I never had any symptoms until the first time in June, I wonder is this when I contracted it.  The actual so-call abrasion so the Dr. said does not hurt and it was adjacent to my urethra the first and second time which made us think that it was from friction.

I also had a white discharge with this, which has not completely went away, but I have to irritation and I am concerned about that due to the fact that I am on antibiotics.  I was wondering if I may be trying to get a yeast infection from the meds. Who KNOWS!!!

I will definitely call on Monday and ask for the results.

Hi, I posted a question to this site which you provided a answer for back in September.  I was wanting to ask if you are told that you have vaginal herpes. How often would you have outbreaks? Since I've been told that and since I've had those complications almost 11 months ago, I haven't had any problems since.. (knock on wood) Is this normal??

Thanks
