A symptomatic hsv2

Is it possible for a spouse to be a symptomatic for 30 years?
My neighbor has been  married 27 years and her husband was just diagnosed, she hasn't been tested yet.
Can it be missed for 30 years? Since they've been married 27 and the 30 sounds a bit convenient.

Yes that is not uncommon. People will sometimes experience some outbreaks for a couple of years following infection then it can go dormant for many, many years.

Note that it is more likely that the diagnosis is incorrect, based of an IgM test or a low index value for an IgG test. This would need to be confirmed first.
