Outbreak or nah?

Greetings I have hsv2 and I shaved abt 2 wks ago prior to shaving I has 2 skin colored bumps right below belt area. So after the 2 wks the bumps were still there and I decided to irritate them until something comes out because it seemed like normal bumps. So when I did very little clear substance came out and then bled a bit. So from the friction of my fingers when messing with the bumps now I have a open wound in the place of the 2. I had no prodome associated with the bumps. I faithfully take 3000mg of lysine and 500mg of valtrex daily for the last yr if that helps. So do you think that this was a outbreak or just common razor type bumps thx?

Hi, from what your describing and the meds your on it would certainly appear shaving related. Herpes lesions are not bumps but blister type sores.

Well thanks for your reply... in ur opinion do you think that I should just treat it as a normal wound and abstain from sex just in case? Or since I have no prodome symptoms could I just cover the spot up during sex if I chose to do so...?

Also just below the belt area is kinda out of the breakout zone. Where do your normal outbreaks occur?

Mostly on, in or around my buttocks (I'm a straight male)... I've always gotten boils or ingrown hairs on my thigh... but had tht since I was a kid... but I think that those bumps that we discussed below the belt are associated with shaving however since I picked at them into a open wound I didn't know if it would have any effects on my hsv2 condition.

How were you diagnosed with hsv2?

Can you give details of exactly what test (IgG or IgM) and any numerical results? Where Dave is going is that the bumps are unusual in the context of herpes so worthwhile checking things out further.

Thx Fleetwood for replying... I'm not sure of the igg or igm... well as I said earlier I have a history of getting ingrown hairs or boils in tht region since I was a child... so do you agree that it's not an outbreak..?

We cannot comment without the blood test results.

So when should I be concerned as far as having an recurrent outbreak? Can I breakout in more than one area like the buttocks and thighs at same time or on both sides of body...? Also is constant groin area pains on both sides symptoms of an outbreak? And lastly how long do recurrent outbreaks last if I take daily suppression and prior to and during an outbreak I take 1500mg of valtrex and 3000mg of lysine a day? Sorry for all the questions and I really appreciate your input? Thx
