Hello.. Correct I am out of the US. Ok I will get retested, my partner and myself!
The test looks like a Euroimmun and therefore does not have the same reference range as Herpeselect for example.
Greater than 22 Ru/mL is considered equivocal to positive any thing less is negative.
Most people with the virus test over 70 with this test, some up to 200.
I suspect you are not in the US, hence a Westernblot might be difficult to obtain. With no symptoms, potentially retest but wait a few months.
this is the last thing I'll say on this.
Because your result is higher than I've ever seen, I would recommend getting retested.
If we see someone with a result of 5.00 or 8.31 or similar, we usually make them aware of the fact that they are out of the "maybe" range. But, you have never had outbreaks (everyone itches sometimes...that alone is rarely indicative of infection), I think you should get another test to make sure the equipment used with your sample wasn't somehow compromised.
You could get another IgG or a Western Blot, but if I were in your shoes, I'd go for 1 more test to confirm.
How long have you been sexually active? Are you African American (I ask because, for some reason, there are studies that suggest that African Americans don't suffer from as many outbreaks)?
Ok thank u! Think u scared me a bit! But I will definitely disclose this to my partner. Thing is I never reli had an out break. I feel the itching from time to time! That's all!!
One last thing: I don't know how much you know about the virus; but, you should know that your sex life doesn't have to end - not by a long shot.
20% of women in the United States are HSV2+
50% of African American women
33% of African American males
You are, by no means, alone with this virus and if you take the proper precautions, you can help keep any seronegative partners safe.
Not wanting to add any sting to your results; but, you need to know that many people who have this virus have a very difficult experience with it. based on you high IgG value, it's pretty safe to assume that you have had the virus for at least a year (at least).
Since you have a highly communicable infection, it is VERY important that you disclose your status with any new partners as your experience is not common. Not doing so can actually result in legal action in most states.
If you take antiviral medication and use condoms the odds of your transferring the virus is greatly reduced.
Terri Warren has written a book that I think you can get online called The Good News About The Bad News. It is a great resource and a good way for you to understand that this virus, doesn't have to change the way you live 99.9% of your life.
Just keep an eye out for any genital sores and if you see one have it swabbed within 48 hours to confirm its herpes. Blood tests dont say where you have it but most likely is genital.
Waw..thanks for responding ..I am just thinking where do I go from here!!!
Many people dont have outbreaks or the outbreaks are so small they dont notice them or they think its something else like jock itch. You can retest is you want but its quite a high value meaning you may have had this for quite a while.
But I have never had any outbreaks there ?? Oh my goodness...
Hi, its shows positive for hsv2.
