Possible false positive?

Had oral done today me and for what ever reason freaked out almost instantly tried to get tested the next day didn’t happen due to not having symptoms  was able to go the following day 1st thing I’m the morning to just get blood work done and everything came back good besides hsv1 came back positive at >8.39 says high i feel fine other than having a chronic sinus infection prior to the encounter and it’s been over a week now and I’m really stressed out . Do you think can be a false positive?

Is that on an IgG?

A score that high probably isn't a false positive. However, you've probably had it a long time. Many people get oral hsv1 as kids, from family members, or when they get older from kissing.

3.7 billion, or 67%, of people under 50 have hsv1, so you certainly aren't alone, or rare, or anything. 90% of them never get cold sores.

What I was thinking I had done one prior to it a few years back and went to go look at it a few days  ago and noticed they didn’t test for hsv. I guess my question would be would it be that high only 2 days if I had just gotten it or like you mention I’ve already had it for a while
No, it takes at least 2 weeks minimum (up to 12 weeks) to develop antibodies and show up on a test. There's no way it came from your encounter 2 days prior to the test.

There's no way you'll ever know for sure when you got it, but at >8.39 probably means it's been awhile.

It's unfortunate that your previous testing didn't include herpes. It often doesn't, even if you ask to be tested for everything.
Appreciate everything and the info it definitely helped me mentally it was rough for sure on the news I was given.  I’ve still had no symptoms what so ever but have adjusted to a different lifestyle.
You may never have symptoms, so don't worry and wait for them - the majority of people never get symptoms.

I'm glad it helped. Take care. :)
