Protected Anal Sex - HSV

Hello, I'm at 28 year old man who is in pretty good health. Last week tuesday night I had a fairly risky sexual encounter with a woman, who I did not know well. We had protected anal sex with a condom, after the encounter about 24 hours after I had a slight fever at 99.2, that night I battled the fever throughout the night as well as the next night. I also had noticeable tingling or chafing on the underside of my penis.

There was kissing throughout the encounter. After we were done I didn't see any noticable breaks in the condom. And showered 30 mins after.

The next day I had tingling around my scrotum and anus. I went to the urgent care clinic and the doctor prescribed me a fungal cream for the redness. Since using the cream it has relieved about 90% of my symptoms from the sensations on my genitals. Would that help a pre-cursor to herpes?

It's sunday today, and I played soccer, tennis, and have no signs of fever and feel about 90% of my normal self. I am slightly fatigued, but also haven't slept very well since this encounter.

I am wondering what the chances of contracting HSV or HIV from this encounter. I have medical tests pending for all STDs and am very embarrassed about this. But my mind is so worried that I have made a terrible mistake. Any thoughts or advice would be helpful. Thank you

So I'm fairly sure that with all the reading I've done that I have HSV. I thought that condoms were fairly effective at preventing hsv, but it sounds like it's transmitted more between skin to skin. Which I was unaware of.

My question is, how is the quality of life? Are the outbreaks lessened by the medication and am I still able to have children with someone and not transmit the virus to them? Very discouraged by this.

Oh so the tingling is usually just a small spot and then the lesion develops soon after? Hours to 1 day after?

I have a slight fever again for the past 2 days. I don't really know what to make of this. Sucks I have to wait 6-8 more weeks for a reliable blood test.

What you describe is not the usual tingle feeling that is focused on the small spot where a lesion subseuqently develops soon after.

Knocking off a fungus can be very hard. You must apply cream for three weeks to be sure of removing the fungus. Even then in some cases it can be persistent.

I will ask for the actual results. So another question: I had tingling for about 4-5 days after the encounter around my anus and scrotum. It disappeared for about 4 weeks and now it is back. It's been back for about 2 days, still no lesions. I do have history of jock itch down there, but this feels slightly different than that did. Also this did get better with the antifungal cream prescribed by the doctor....any thoughts?

You must have had a blood test for IgG antibodies type specific for HSV1 and HSV2. You likely needed to ask for these explicitly. What were the actual results, numerical?

The IgG antibody tests must be performed 12 weeks after possible exposure to be conclusive.

So I got all my tests back and they were negative. But how reliable are these results?

Thank you for your responses! I've been so paranoid, the past few days have been so difficult. If anyone else has opinions I would appreciate a response.

Yes tingling does happen, but the it is usually only a matter of hours for the lesions to develop, a day at most.

No additional risk given anal sex compared to vaginal sex for HSV transmission.

I have read online that before the first outbreak there are some tingling sensations. Which is why I was so worried. Also the acute fever after he fact. contacted the girl, she said she was 100% clean. But I don't really know how reputable that is. Also I was worried considering it was anal sex.

With protected sex of this nature, the odds of HIV and HSV are essentially zero. You have no idea whether this person actually has either of those viruses (and then didn't disclose to you). There isn't really much of a precursor to an initial herpes outbreak, it just happens.
