I have previously been both HSV-1 and HSV-2 negative ( was tested for fertility treatments.) However, I recently foolishly engaged in unprotected orogenital sex and contracted oral HSV-2, (most likely given no prior antibodies to HSV-1.) Lone oral HSV-2 infection is rare and my search for statistically sound medical literature has revealed studies in mostly homosexual men. ( I am a heterosexual woman.) I am trying to determine the following: What is the frequency of asymptomatic HSV-2 shedding orally in lone oral infection. Can HSV-2 also be concurrently shed genitally in lone oral infection. I know HSV-2 can be transmitted to a discordant partner via orogenital contact, but is it likely to be highly transmissible via kissing? Also, although it is lone oral infection, I plan to take daily valacyclovir, which should also reduce any shedding. I thank you for your time.
