Recently exposed

Hi. On Friday I went on a date with a guy and he kissed me. Later on that night I discovered a tiny cold sore on the side of his lip that was scabbed over. I've never had a cold sore before and have been using abreva. I get occasionally tingling and itching sensations on my bottom lip but have yet to break out into a full fledged cold sore. What are the chances that I don't have it?

Day 7 and no outbreak. How likely is it that I have it?
Also, if I date someone with HSV 1 and I kiss them when the have no outbreak, can I still get the virus?

Nothing you mentioned, most often with a first time infection there are body ached and fever as the immune system is building antibodies.

I guess the only reason I'm worried is because I'm having symptoms of a viral infection: I feel weak/fatigued, thirsty, frequent urge to urinate, and nausea. Could that have anything to do with herpes?

cold and chapped lips (and glad you have a lip) go hand in hand or i should say lip and lip :(

I feel so relieved, thank you.
It's been so cold here lately, do you think that can be attributed to my chapped lips?

When a sore is scabed over its no longer a risk. So from simple peck kissing and a scab on the sore i would not be overly concerned about this.

Lol! No lip :p

He had a sore at the time. It was at the very corner of his lips and it was scabbed over. We did tap kiss several times and he wanted to French kiss me but I told him I didn't want to. Something about it felt too soon. His lips are bigger than mine so I can't even remember if my lips even touched any part of the sore. Nonetheless I'm still very worried.

Today is Wednesday and this happened on Friday. So by next Friday if I haven't received a cold sore am I in the clear. Or do you think I'm already pretty much ok?

I was a little shocked when you said you didnot have a lip so im glad you claified it :). When and if outbreaks occur from a first time exposure, it would be 3 to 13 days on average.
But let me say this, if he did not have a lip sore at the time it would really lower your risk and also simple kissing is not enough to contract it but would need to be some romantic deep rubbing kissing to force the virus into the nerve.

Thank you :)
And no I don't have a lip are yet. I guess I'm just worried, after being exposed to the virus how long from Friday would an outbreak occur/have occurred?
Also, what are the chances that I didn't even contract it on Friday?
Thanks so much.

Prodrome are for those who have herpes already and is used as a tool to anticipate outbreaks. Its not used for recent infections. If your having prodrome then if your positive for hsv1 oral, then youve had it quite a while. Testing now would be to your advantage as a high number would mean old infection. If you have a lip sore now have it swabbed as well as a blood test.

I have a doctors appointment scheduled for today and wanted to know if its too early to go in for testing? I'm wondering if the itchiness I felt was due to me applying the abreva when there were no initial symptoms. Prodrome started about 2 days after but nothing rose on my lips. I just found that my lips were unusually dry and the skin looked crumbly as if peeling. Not sure if this is viral shedding or if I'm just freaking myself out. Lastly, I'm aware that because his sore was scabbed over it makes my chances of getting a sore extremely low. How long until I *might* see symptoms?

Hi, having issues the same night would not be related to herpes from kissing him. Many people have hsv1 oral and dont know it. Testing would confirm your status.
