Single bump

I had unprotected oral sex with a girl Im seeing, about 3 1/2 weeks ago. She sometimes gets cold sores, but didn't have one at the time. Two weeks prior the same act was preformed and she developed a cold sore the next day (this was 5 weeks ago). As a kid I got one or two cold sores, myself, but haven't in over a decade.

So about 4 days ago or so, I scratched an itch down there and hit a medium size bump on my scrotum towards the top left side. And it caused some mild pain. But the bump didn't bleed or anything, and didn't look harmed. Didn't give it a second thought until today. When I noticed a very mild stinging and a paper cut sore where the bump use to be. Surrounded by a "ring" of dead skin.

During normal everyday activities that sore isn't noticeable, and causes no pain. It just stings a bit if I touch it. I also have 3 "red patches" in my pubic hair region below the belt but above my penis. No bumps or anything in that are though.

Now I read a lot on the topic, and I know that 3 1/2 weeks in beyond the normal incubation period and 5 1/2 is well beyond said period. I also know that normally they itch and are very painful -- this itched very little and isn't painful even now except to the touch. I did "trim" my hair a bit too short in that area about 2 weeks ago, so an ingrown hair might not be out of the question.

I have serious doubts about it being HSV, because of all the factors I listed. But I'm just looking for some reassurance, because I'm not positive.

odds are this isn't herpes going on. see your provider monday for a proper work up and better answers so you can stop worrying.

If you've never been tested for herpes before, now is the time to get a type specific herpes igg blood test while it's on your mind. Knowing your status is helpful in protecting yourself and your partners.

Sure? Yes. 100% positive? No.

All I have to go on is my memory and I remember getting one here and there. Plus my mother gets them all the time even still, so the chances are likely I have contracted it.

If you for sure had cold sores as a child, chances are both yours and hers are type 1 and you would not have to worry as your body would have developed antibodies.

Either way this is a low risk encounter.

Are you sure you already have HSV and you didn't just get canker sores as a kid?
