Hi, at 2.6 at 8 days post exposure most likely is a false positive but thats not 100%. It could be a positive from an affair before that one. It is possible to have an old infection with a 2.6 but not likely. Testing at 8 weeks would be a good indicator and 3 months for conclusive.
I know there are no certainties, but I am trying to get a little piece of mind. Based on your email igg 2.6 from an exposure 8 days before does not make sense. Antibodies would not be created in the body that fast. I have not had any lesions or symptoms 12 days post exposure besides stress and anxiety. No fever or swelling of any lymph nodes. I was tested 4 months after previous exposure and was low negative.
I read some of Terri Warren's comments and she said 10 days was the earliest she has seen and that was with significant symptoms.
Thank you for the information and for the help you give to people!
Then this could almost certainly be a false positive since you tested negtive before and yes at 8 days makes no sense to have a 2.6.
Is part of the logic I would have a higher positive if it was from a previous exposure, and 2.6 is not reasonable 8 days after a single brief exposure? I was tested at the end of last year, all negative and this is first possible exposure since. I have also been paying close attention and no lesions 12 days past exposure. From Dr. Hansfield's posts he thinks most people do have symptoms and just write it off to something else versus high numbers asymptomatic infections. Wouldn't normally have symptoms prior to positive igg test?
How come all of the Doctor forums are closed?
But you tested negative so this is a mute point. Not sure about the doctors forum. Very most often old infection are 5 and above and can go to 20. Most labs stop at 5.
I tested negative a year ago 4 months after previous exposure. I am now dealing with issues from new exposure 12 days ago. I was tested 4 days ago and that is when I got the 2.6 8 days after exposure. Wouldn't it make sense to get another igg and confirm false positive?
I just called and talked to a clinician who specializes in herpes. They said there is no way antibodies would be produced that fast to have any reading much less a 2.6 at 8 days. :)
So just got another igg test. Tested at day 11 past exposure number came back at 3.1. First test was 2.6, 8 days past exposure. From all of the reading I have done antibodies can't be created that fast. Also, I have no lesions!!! Nothing to suggest herpes. Still hoping this is a false positive. Haven't had another exposure in a year and was tested 4 months after back in December 2013 with negative everything. Never had any lesions or symptoms and was very vigilant then too looking. Don't think it is possible to have positive igg test that soon after single brief exposure. No herpes lesions, would think there would be something if body was reacting. Can this really be a new herpes 2 infection??????
And if not from most recent exposure, 13 days ago no lesions, then wouldn't the number be higher????
