I was recently screened for all std's and all results came back negative except for hsv. My doctor then told me that the lab would test to see which kind it was and let me know. When he got back to me he said my result was indeterminate. He advised me to get retested again in a couple weeks to see if my antibody levels had changed. My second test came back indeterminate as well.
I've never had cold sores, but I woke up recently and saw a small red scab on the shaft of my penis (about the size of a tip of a pen). There was no pain and I can't be sure if it was herpes. Also, in the 2 week window between my tests, I had what looked like a small blister on my scrotum, I freaked out and popped it, and it healed in a couple of days. Again, I can't be sure if this was herpes. I've been sexually active on and off over the past ten years. The last time I was sexually active was about 3 months ago.
How should I go about interpreting these test results? I really can't tell one way or another if I have either type of herpes, and I would like to know for certain. Should I assume that I'm clean until I show symptoms? Or should I move forward knowing that I probably have some form of herpes?
Thanks for any information you can provide.
