condoms reduce transmission of genital herpes by 30%. they help but they aren't infallible.

be sexually responsible and follow up on things if you are concerned. odds are you've never been tested for herpes before so getting a herpes igg blood test at some point while it's on your mind is always a good idea.

Hi Grace
I have doubt. My test RPR screening was negative on 20th sept(exposure on 10th sept). I don't think my test consists of microsope test for Syphills bacterium.

I found this:
Syphilis: The chancre characteristic of the first stage of syphilis appears, on average, twenty one days after infection, but may appear any time between 10 to 90 days after exposure to the bacterium.

If I infected by syphills, the symptoms appeared 10 to 21 days after infection and I got negative RPR. Can I test RPR again? I dont mind to have Syphills but  not herpes! advice me.

These are my lab results.
Herpes simplex Virus isolation

you are clean if you shower regularly. unless someone is specifically getting tested regularly for std's, you have no idea of their status.

you can get tested 1 week post encounter for chlamydia and gonorrhea. You need to wait 6 weeks post encounter for syphilis and 3 months for hiv and hsv testing.  if you are really concerned about this encounter you had, you need to follow up with proper testing at the proper time.  you can get a type specific herpes igg blood test, no need for symptoms to be tested for it.

odds are you've never been tested for herpes before. odds are your partners aren't getting tested for it either.
