Yeast infection or Herpes

I am curious what the differences are between a yeast infection and herpes in MEN.  From what I read they have very similar symtoms.  What if any tell tale differences are there between the two?

For example, I know yeast infections can cause an odor, but does/can herpes cause an odor?

Herpes shouldn't cause an odor, and yeast should respond to antifungal creams.

The only way to know for sure is to get the spots cultured.
