chicken pox vs. genital herpes

I had a severe case of chicken pox when i was 9 months pregnant, this was 20 years ago. I have recently been doing a 30 day cellular cleanse and  a few sores are starting to show up on my genital area and my glands are now swollen. Is it possible for the cleanse to reactivate the pox?..I saw a Dr. today and they casually told me i had herpes...this doesn,t really fit but i am confused. please help.

odds are neither you nor your partner have ever been tested for herpes before. it's not a part of routine std testing. while you are waiting for lesion cultures, call your providers to see if they will order type specific herpes igg blood testing on you both to see who has what.

yes indeed it's likely that one of you has at least hsv1 if not hsv2 or both and just never realized it.

Is it possible for either of us to have been exposed to herpes years ago and not known it and now the cleanse has brought it to the surface?

They did a swab today, will have results next week. I guess what doesn,t stack up is that I have been in a monog relationship for 14 months, neither of has ever has any std...we are a bit freaked out. We had relations one evening and the next morning i was swelled internally with a few bumps and i knew something was wrong. Seems very odd.

chicken pox reactivates as shingles. it only occurs on 1 side of the body is very painful. can you just have it reoccur on 1 side in the genital area? yes you can but it typically doesn't.

what testing have they done so far on you?
