Herpes risk

I was diagnosed with herpes about a year and half ago. I take acyclovir twice daily to suppress outbreaks, which has been very effective (no outbreaks in over a year). I am in a serious relationship, and we always use condoms for intercourse. My boyfriend would like to perform oral sex on me, but we are wondering how risky it is. I know most people recommend using a dental dam, but I don't think that is something we are interested in doing... What are the chances of my boyfriend contracting herpes through performing oral sex (since I'm on medication)?

can your partner contract your hsv2 orally from performing oral sex on you? He can but the risk of such overall is very low. you being on suppressive therapy makes it even lower yet.

obviously avoiding sex and oral sex anytime you have anything going on genitally is always a good idea though :)

enjoy yourselves :)

First of all, how were you diagnosed? Blood test, swab from a lesion?
