I am soon to be 61, had horribly bad chicken pox as a child and the zoster vaccine a few yrs back due to these breakouts on my L buttock. Thought it would make the bo's less painful and that seems to be true. The deep nerve pain is less before and during a bo. I will find out exactly what these bo's are!
Thank you for the support...I really need it right now!
It is possible to have recurrent outbreaks of shingles but remember those that have shingles had chicken pox or the vaccination against it as a child. Also its more for those up in age like the 60's.
Dont be overly upset about this as many folks have both hsv1 and 2 and your never alone as always have us here for an shoulder to lean on. You just need to find out what the outbreaks are at this point.
No, I'm not thinking I could have contracted hsv2 from her. I do know that she gave me hsv1 as a child. At this time I am wondering if my ob is shingles. I need to get it cultured to rule that out. Good grief, I could have all three, 1 & 2 & zoster. My brain is on total overload!!! I know this really isn't a death sentence but I certainly feel like it is!!! I guess it's entirely possible that her diagnosis was purely visual due to her age. My pcp and the nurse at the std clinic last week both said my ob didn't look like genital herpes...some people say that they have recurrent ob's of shingles. All I know is I've tested high positive for 1 & 2...have to find out exactly what this ob is from.
I really appreciate your input, Life360! I'm so afraid I won't be able to afford anti viral meds! I feel like I'm looking at the rest of my life staying alone!
Maybe she had hsv2 as well but contacting it from her would be very questionable.
that's what I have been reading, too...about shingles! Some yrs ago, my mom was diagnosed with shingles and had recurrent ob's in exactly same place. I feel so stupid for never realizing that this might be something different! Our ob's were exactly the same. She died in April, so no way to know how she was diagnosed. What a nightmare!!!!
Only taking antivirals like valtrex would help but most that get shingles only get them once in there lifetime
ok, will get the sores swabbed and cultured to be sure...local std health clinic will be able to do this...thanks! This must be confirmed, I guess. Honestly thought I had shingles all this time! Got the vaccine a few yrs ago and the pain had been less severe with ob's.
I don't want to start a new thread so, please forgive me if this question is not asked in appropriate place. What about supplements like the L-lysine? Is there a good brand? I can't even think straight right now!!! I'm trying to remain calm but, am so completely overwhelmed! Are prescription antivirals expensive?
I believe I got this from my husband having had affairs...guess that really doesn't matter at this point! I'm trying to be informed, there's so much info my head is swimming!
There nothing to be scared about. Your next step is to confirm your hip outbreaks with a swab test but must be done within 48 hours after appearing. If these are herpes and your having many outbreaks you can go on suppressive meds.
with no health ins...I don't know what to do next. I'm in shock and scared out of my mind...what should be my next step?
if you had an igG type specific and the positive is any number above 1.2 then no there would be no doubt with a 20 for hsv2.
I haven't had a lip sore in 30-40 yrs. Have had an ob on hip/ buttock for 2.5 months now...the igg test came back such high positives hsv1-34.5 and hsv2-20.
Can there possibly be any doubt?
Hi, if your test numbers based on anything below 1.2 is negative and anything above 1.2 positive? If yes then those numbers indicate positive. Your next step is to have the hip sores swabbed the next time you get them to confirm your outbreak area. Its unusual to have outbreaks there. Also have a lip sore swabbed to confirm type but most likely is hsv1 oral.
