To Dr. Hunter Handsfield

Hello Dr. Handsfield,

I recently found very small zits on my penis and I saw a urologist. the urologist took a biopsy of one of them and told me that this is a condyloma which is basically a genital wart. ever since he said that I have been in a deep deep state of anxiety. I am feeling terrible even though I never even had sex, I am 29 year old male virgin and all I did was had genital to genital contact with a girl with protection on, with no penetration. My fears are that the warts will not go away anytime soon, I am also scared that I might be infected with risky HPV besides the warts. My third fear is that I was planning on settling down with a girl in the next year or two and I am now scared that I would be pulling an evil move and giving her HPV if I have sex with her. I need reassurance, I am unable to function :(

Thanks and looking forward for your answer

Dr. Handsfield doesn't post here this is the community forum if you want an answer from either him or dr. Hook you must post in the paid expert forum. Bottom line is don't feel left out the wart virus is very common and if everyone was tested almost everyone will show a trace of it. It is really odd you have warts however and you are a virgin but genital to genital contact is all that's required for hpv to spread and don't feel bad about potentially spreading it majority of the people spread it asymptomatically meaning they have it but don't know it that's how common it is, if your warts disappear and stay away for 3-6 months you can consider yourself non contagious.

Thanks John for your gentle comment, I really do need reassurance. I will also post to the paid forum. In such situations you cannot talk to family or friends because of the stigma, the community is all I have for some mental support
