Has she been sexually active? Abnormal paps are usually due to HPV but not always. When they did her pap, did they test for HPV?
It's not unusual for a 19 yr old to have bleeding between periods since her body is still working out it's cycle. That is most likely hormonal.
Please know that HPV is extremely common and she most likely would have been exposed at some point anyway. The dr is doing the right thing by checking her further with a colposcopy. She should also look into getting the Gardisal vaccine.
I have been growin abnormal bumps on my tongue...they started to grow early this week it started off with one then two showed up now i think i can see a third and i was wondering why I havent had sexual or oral sex since july and i was wondering if it is because i have a std in my mouth
You don't alway's contract the virus by sexual contact.... It is possible that if she's not sexually active, then something else could possibly be going on, but if she is sexually active and having unprotected sex then she is at risk... She really needs to see about getting the Gardisal shot.... I am not trying to scare you, but abnormal bleeding followed by an abnormal pap, could possibly mean cervical cancer... That's exactly how my Mom was diagnosed.. She started out by having abnormal periods, and then she eventually had an abnormal pap and was diagnosed with cervical cancer.... Please, let me know how she does. PM me if you'd like.... I have a lot of experience in stuff like this.
