HPV Anal Cancer Fears

Between the ages of 14 and 16 I had a gay 'phase' with 2 other mates. I dont know why, as there was no attraction to men in the same way as i feel to women, but it happened, and now i am living my life as a hetrosexual and have had a girlfriend for the past 5 years who i am more than happy with.

My question is that i have got myself really worried since reading about HPV that I may be at a real strong risk of anal cancer, as i probably wouldnt know i have HPV. I havent had any gay encounters in almost 10 years. I realise that doesnt change the fact i put myself at risk, but i am convinced that its going to happen to me. Have i got a real strong chance of having cancer causing HPV? Are my chances probably less now that I havent had any exposures since?

I just want a little peace of mind as i am driving myself up the wall with worry.

p.s I have been checked for other infections such as HIV etc, although i never told the nurse that i had gay encounters.

Many thanks.

Here's the right answer to your question. The odds of anal cancer from HPV is low. Even if you have anal warts present. It does happen but it is not often. If you are worried, you should go see a proctologist to examine your anus and get a colonscopy every 5 years. Stop worrying as stress is bad for you.
