HPV???? SO CONFUSED!!!

Ok, so I have only been sexually active with 2 men and never had an STD.  I recently noticed a bump on my anus that was extremely itchy so I went to the doctor to have what I thought was a wart on my anus examined.  The nurse practitioner came in and examined it and agreed with me that she thought it was a wart but wanted a second opinion as she has never seen these on women before.  Another doctor entered the room and examined me and said that she thought it was hemorrhoids, at which point the NP decided that it was hemorrhoids as well and we were going to treat it as so.  I had a pap smear done as well.  About a week later, I received a call from their office asking me to return to speak with the NP...which naturally scared me to death.  Come to find out they mislabeled my pap smear with someone else's name whom did not have a pap smear that day (inspires a lot of confidence, huh?).  So I had to do another pap smear to clarify the results, but these mislabeled results came back normal.  She looked at the bump on my anus again and reconfirmed that she thought it was hemorrhoids and then goes on to state that she thought it could have been genital warts because I thought it was...who's the health care provider here?  So, after this bit of clumsy practice, I decided to get a second opinion as I was not feeling so assured.  I went to Planned Parenthood, explained what I thought it was and the NP there said, "yeah it looks like it"...but never a guarantee..."Yes, that's it!"  So, a couple of questions...How can I be sure?  I have read online about biopsies, but how can I get my doctor to perform this...I have no insurance and I'm not so sure they are going to be willing to do this at some free clinic.  Why is it only in my anus?  I have had vaginal sex and oral sex countless times with my boyfriend, but we only attempted anal sex once, unsuccessfully, I might add.  If my pap smear came back normal...no hpv can this still be a genital wart?  So confused!!!!

during sex body parts/skin touch pretty much almost everywhere in the genital areas..so it's possible..even if there isn't penetration (especially in the anal area)

thanks for your response...why would it only show up on my anus and not in my vaginal region...it seems a little odd doesn't it?

your pap won't/can't tell you if you have hpv..it's a seperate test that most docs won't do on women under 35 if their paps come back normal (you can have normal paps AND be hpv positive). you need to go to a gyn/clinic/planned parenthood and request that a HPV  test be done for BOTH low(wart causing) and high(increased risk certain cancers..and even then it's still a small chance) risk strains.
