HPV Transmission through touch

To Whom it may concern

Because it definately concerns me, My gf recently told me she had HPV, she was diagnosed in June of 2006, her last pap smear was on sept 2008 and apparently it came back negative. It is now December 2008, The thing is she never told me she had it, we started dating at the beginning of december 2008 and during that we had some sexual contact. I had my hand down her pants and ofcourse her vaginal fluid ended up on my fingers, I touched my genitals after that at some point or another and at some point my mouth. Can I get HPV from indirect contact like that? I am really worried because her vaginal fluid was in my mouth I can get the virus that way? I did not have intercourse, nor did my genitals ever make contact with hers, but there was indirect contact. I heard the virus can be cleared in 2 years which she tells me apparently it has, and she assures me I will be fine, but i am very concerned she may be wrong.
Thank you and hope to get an answer son

They do not know why genital to oral is as rare as it is. Fact is, you will probably never know unless the world suddenly changes and starts testing men.

Also, girls are told not to worry, not to tell. Virus is cured.

Then they get stressed or pregnant, and HPV might come back.

HPV is a complex topic and there are no certain answers to many questions... We got to believe what experts say or studies/ reasearches have to offer... If you receive the oral, it is unlikely to get genital warts... the strains those cause the genital warts do not like or live well in the oral enviornment... what Nailz81 is referring to here about oral warts in some women were probably transferred to them through oral to oral contact and not genital to oral or oral to genital contact... I've read many posts on this and other sites where people told that they never had anal sex but they still got warts inside there... this makes us to think that hand can be a carrier of the virus to spread on one's body or to others...

HPV is very common and you can even get it on your tonsils or glands from oral sex, symptoms in men are usually none and that's why it is important for everyone to go to the local Planned Parenthood or Blood place to get the tests for all the major risks for 247$. I have tried everything to be safe and still I believe I have been exposed to an STD
nothing is safe I have gotten prego from a condom slipping off and prego with twins when on birth control. Exposure is even linked to cervical cancer. Please make sure your partner is safe clean and not a drug user.
YES if you are using your fingers and touching your or someone elses genitals you can spread it! It can infect you through the throat, though these cases I have heard were females.

My question is more specifically on if I licked my fingers after "fingering" her, would I be at risk for HPV?

Yes, she is right in telling you that most of the hpv infections are self resolved within a period of 6-24 months... HPV for men is nothing more than a costmatic concern if it is about warts and majority of men do no get any symptoms at all against high risk strains of the virus... Further, for the transmission of the virus you must have a direct "skin contact" with an active wart/ lesion... The virus is not transmitted through any sort of body fluids... the strains those cause genital warts do not like the oral enviornment... From all what you told, I'm almost certain that you've not contracted the virus...
