HPV and Pregnant

Hi I am 14 weeks pregnant and I just found out that my pap test came back abnormal due to HPV which has caused a cell change.  I am scheduled for a colposcopy with a biopsy.  I am just wondering if this is really a safe procedure being pregnant?  Could this cause my cervix to weaken or cause me to miscarriage?  I know that this test can cause cramping and bleeding how can this be healthy for somebody that is pregnant?  Also why can't this test wait until after I deliver the baby?  If treatments are necessary seeing as how I am pregnant how can anything even be done so what would the point be?  My doctor is out of town on a missions trip with her church so I am full of questions with no answers for several weeks!  Please help me!
