Genital warts 7y ago - possible infection current partner?

Dear,
I had (external) genital warts 6.5 years ago. They were removed by my gynaecologist. Fortunately they have never come back. Unfortunately I found it mentally very disturbing and it still haunts me to date.
I have now been in a loving relationship for 2 years and my boyfriend and I are thinking of one day starting our own little family. My current boyfriend is my first sexual partner since I had those warts more than 6 years ago.
Currently we always use a condom when having intercourse. My boyfriend has never had any genital warts, but I am terrified of passing the virus on to my boyfriend when trying to make a baby (Maybe I already have?). You have already mentioned in previous postings that the body fights HPV and usually gets rid of the virus after 1-2 years. I also believe to have read that this is also the case for the low risk HPV strains that cause genital warts? However, my gynaecologist told me that I will have this virus for life, and that I have most likely already passed it on to my boyfriend, even without him having any symptoms. Could this be true? According to my gynaecologist there is no way of finding out as there are no HPV tests for men?
You have also spoken in previous postings about flare-ups. Does this mean that even if the body has gotten rid of the virus, the warts might still come back? And may I ask what causes these flare-ups? Could a shift in my hormone balance, for example when being pregnant, trigger a flare-up?
Having talked to my doctor about the mental distress this is causing me, he has now advised me to go to a private clinic to have a HPV test done (apparently they will also test for strains 6 and 11). Would there still be a chance of future flare ups, if this test would come back negative for strains 6 and 11?
I would really appreciate your help in this matter.
Thank you in advance.

Yes, HPV is for life.  Small amounts of it cling to DNA forever. Yes, you probably passed the virus to your BF even with condoms. The virus can be found any genital skin. Yes, there is no test for men. Yes it could come back and you could become infectious again, but it is not the usual case for most. Very simply, this is not a big deal and usually not cancerous. If you are sexually active, there is an 80% chance you have it. Multiple strains.
