What Are the Odds of Catching HPV?

In the same way as they have odds about catching HIV depending on circumstances, what about HPV?

It sounds like the virus is very transmissible.  Also, 1 out of every 5 people have it.

1.  How much does a condom protect someone?  Can anyone say exactly how much, instead of "it protects"?

2.  Does this mean if you sleep with an escort/prostitute, you are sure to catch it?  After all, she sleeps with at least 5 people a day, every day.

A condom only covers a small percentage of genital skin. It does not cover the base of the penis, the scrotum, the rectum, thighs, etc. There is no documented number but its very little skin when compared to all of the genital skin that men have. This is why HPV is the most popular STD in the world. However, it is still a good idea to wear a condom.

Sleeping with anyone who has had a large number of partners is never a great idea. Escorts get tested every 6 months, at most. Asking if they ever got a bad pap result may not get you a truthful answer. No one will say you will get it for sure but it definitely increases the odds. Some women get a negative test result but still have the virus in their system at very low levels. When or if they become infectious is uncertain.
