If you had genital warts during pregnancy then chances of transmission to the child are there. If the PAP smear has shown high risk HPV, then you need to get a colposcopy and biopsy done. Usually if the biopsy report comes normal, we do smears at regular intervals. If PAP smears come out abnormal then LEEP is done.
Scientists now think that the HPV infection that clears up on its own remains dormant in your body. it can stay dormant or it can come back again. Hence transmission can occur even if you are not showing any symptoms.
