I just found out two weeks ago I have HPV with mild dyplasia. I get my lab from the biopsy this week. I have had mucocele issues for 3.5 months and have researched all I could to find a link between mucoceles and HPV. I agree that the internet will mostly cause huge anxiety, fear and stress. I think this stress will contribute to the mucocele. I am being very careful not to suck or chew on my lips, gums. I go tomorrow to find out if some areas of concern to me in my vagina are warts. I am fairly sure they are but hope for the best and that nothing else is wrong with me. I have shown my mucoceles to my general practice doc, my dentist and my gyn. All before I got the HPV pap results. I have wondered if having my dentist do a biopsy or going to an ENT is the next step. I have had several, all have come and gone over and over with only one bothering me at this point. It's not painful but can just be annoying. The only link I ever found online to them and std's was a report on HIV and that was very scary. I have had a 3 month negative HIV test result and feel good that I am ok.
Did you have a biopsy of your mucocele or have it removed?
UPDATE: This is for everyone that comes to this thread because they're worried they might have oral hpv!
I went to an ent a couple weeks ago and she spent about 2 seconds with me and didn't give me a real answer. So after 2 weeks of stressing out I requested a second opinion and the director of the ent department personally looked at my mouth. They turned out to be enlarged Fordyce Granules and the one on my bottom lip was a Mucoceles. That thin growth I described in my post also turned out to be normal and he said I had absolutely nothing to worry about. The doctor performed local anesthesia and removed the "growths" off of my lip. If I can give you any advice it's don't spend hours on the computer looking at what you could have. Go to an ent! If they blow you off like the first one I had did, request a second opinion. My fiance's ex girlfriend gave him hpv, and I was CONVINCED after I looked into my mouth that he had given them to me. I was so sure, but I was wrong so please don't worry and see a doctor!
She said to come back in 3 weeks if there were any changes and it's changing, it looks like it's spreading. What oral lesions can be confused with hpv?
Trust the ENT, he or she would be able to recognize any problems.
Oral warts are not that common. Furthermore, if you genital warts are gone then you have likely developed antibodies against the strain of HPV that infected you. You won't get this one again.
The growths are on the inside of my lips, btw and seem to be spreading to the inside of the bottom lip
