Can you have LSIL without having HPV

I just got news I have to come in for an abnormal papsmear because my tests came back for LSIL. They told me it’s not urgent and to not to worry about it and scheduled me a follow up appointment to look at it a month away but I’m worried! I’ve only had one partner and we had sex over a month ago. Is there a potential to have these results and not have HPV? These findings on the web are very vague and everyone seems to say it’s caused by HPV. Are there other causes? I hate they called me on Valentines Day to tell me. Now I’m lowkey resenting my boyfriend. We are in a long distance relationship and he was my first.

Approx 85% of all LSIL results are caused by HPV. The rest are caused by cig smoking or other causes that the medical community don't understand.

Don't hate your BF. Men cannot be tested for HPV and the high risk for cancer strains that produce pre-cancerous cells on women have no symptoms on men until its cancer. Men are usually carriers because they just don't know. He should assume that he has what you have and that he caused your positive result.

A month is an unusual short time. Most people get positive results or genital warts in 8-12 weeks after exposure. But nothing about this virus surprises me anymore. Get the pap done and see what they say after that.

I don’t have any signs of an STD. We’ve been having sex over a year from now. Haven’t had sex since Jan 1. They scheduled me for a follow up appointment to swab my cervix. They didn’t test me for HPV because I’m under 25. So I don’t know if I have it. They simply said “if it were urgent then we’d have you in here tomorrow but since it’s not we’re scheduling a month out to swab your cervix and take a closer look. Most cases it clears up on its own.”
I also am one of those who get misdiagnosed often. I was told I had eczema, discoid lupus, and was put on tons of medication steroid shots. just to find out it was none of those & they could do nothing about it my skin condition. I’m trying to be positive and spoke with my boyfriend. I hope it’s just lesions that will clear up on its own soon.
What was the outcome???
