HPV transmission

Hello,
I am a 26 year old male. I am worried about having possibly received HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) from a woman who I know has high risk HPV (I do not know which strands) but possibly 16 and 18 since she was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia.

There was no sexual intercourse involved, but she did take off her underwear and masturbated me with them. The underwear had contact with my penis and testicles and even my face.

I had no knowledge of this virus before this situation, but I am now worried of being infected and worried about the potential consequences of this virus (penile, anal and oral cancer). I know that there are no symptoms for the high risk strains and there is no test for males to see if I do indeed have the virus.

My question is does anyone know if there is a possibility of transmission based on what I have explained above?

I don't think so buddy.  As far as I can tell this form of transmission doesn't happen and it if does, it's so rare that you probably have a greater chance of stepping on an upturned rake and being struck by lightling at the same time while holding a winning lottery ticket.  Don't worry a bit longer.

Also, if you do plan on having sex later, you can.  Just make sure your foreplay doesn't involve genital to genital rubbing and if you're really nervous also refrain from her touching herself down there and then grabbing you down there.  Put a condom on when ready to go and it's all good.

There is a small possibility that you can get HPV transfer at the base of the condom if you go to deep but just because it touches there doesn't mean it's gonna transfer.

Ok I'm really nervous about this know.

I have been reading all over the net about HPV and I read that transmission via fomites is possible (therefore underwear) and what i did not mention is that we engaged in this same situation over 15 times. Never oral or intercourse... not even kissing. Just masturbation with the thong touching my penis including the glans, my testicles and my mouth.

I went to an STD doctor and was extremely dissapointed... he didn't even know the difference between high risk and low risk strains... he said all strains can cause genital warts. He examined me didn't see any warts and said you have nothing to worry about....

I have never been so nervous in my life...... I feel like I gave myself HPV and now I am a ticking timebomb just waiting for cancer to take over.

It is so discouraging to know that there is a possibility that I have this and no way of being tested....

I don't know what to do :(

Sorry if my sentences are not clear, I have so much anxiety ;(

First of all, recognize that you are acting like every single person who has HPV issues.  You are not special or excessive in your reaction of fear and anxiety.  It's what happens.  Also know that the fear will subside the more educated you get so look forward to that.

Second, stop looking on the internet for info anywhere but here.  Browse the Ask A Doctor -STDs forum and keyword search.  Do it on this forum.  Your biggest problem isn't the HPV my friend, it's fear.  Believe me when I say this because fear doesn't believe that in the moment.

Third, do the research.  If you did on this site, you would know that it's extremely uncommon for HPV to transfer this way.  No known numbers exist on the liklihood but if it was more than a shrug or nonchalance I'd know about it.  I've been on this site for almost a year and a half and I've been through the whole wart process dude.  I'm now entering my fifth straight month with no warts so hopefully this is all behind me now.

If you really have a lot of unresolvable anxiety in the short term then pay $20 on the Ask and Expert -STDs forum.  They respond very quickly and you'll get the benefit of HPV researchers who have been doing this for 35 years or so.  It helps.

My prognosis is that you are fine and there is most likely no problems with you and HPV.  If you did get high risk you'll never know ever.  If you got warts you'll know within three months or so but I'm telling you that you have more of a chance of getting your identity stolen or hit by lightning or mugged.  You are in a tizzy for no reason but understandably so. You should've seen me fifteen months ago!  It's not cool and it sucks to go through the intitial stages of this.

You can do it though.  Don't overinflate.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Your advice has helped me calm down.

I did a lot of reading and the Doctors seem to say that skin to skin contact is necessary for transmission of the virus.

I just hope they are right .....
