Transmission of HPV from genitals to hands

I have genital warts and I am very concerned about infecting my family as well as any other part of my body.

I would like to know if it is possible for my hands to get infected when I wash my genitals.

Also, can my family members get infected if i use the same soap as them, the same toilets, put my dirty underwear with their clothes, sleep on the same bed, drink from the same cup, etc.?

Do the virus live throughout your entire skin or just in the genitals?

Can I hug or hold hands with someone (after washing my hands) without infecting them?

Also, i had a pimple on my back and my mother squeezed it, can she get infected?

Moreover, I am 7 months pregnant but I am concerned about my baby getting infected. Can the baby get infected if I kiss him, change his pampers, bathe him or by holding him? Do i have to wear gloves in order to change his pampers?

Thank you in advance.

I think you can get genital warts without sexual contact. Also, I think you can spread it. Warts are a virus and a virus spreads. Some doctors say you can't get it in other ways and some doctors say you can. So, we will never know the truth. Just be cautious!!!

Just about every baby is exposed to common warts, certainly any baby with big brothers.sisters, or cousins because they are really common with children, and don't pose any health risk. The only risk to the baby is in the actual birth process.

If you have warts on your hand, they would be caused by the strains of HPV associated with common, not genital warts. Even if you have common warts, this shouldn't present a problem in caring for your child.

Thanks for your reply. Today I noticed a clear bump on the palm of my hand as well as one on my finger. Its really small. My aunt told me that it can be warts cause thats how they start. So now I am very concerned. I wouldn't want to give my baby that virus. So I am thinking that I may not be able to take care of my child.

Genital warts are only spread through genital to genital or oral genital contact. For your pregnancy, your doctor should be aware of your condition as warts can be  passed to a newborn during birth. Although rare, complications can be serious.
