newly diagnose with High risk HPV

I did pap test a month ago and my doctor told my that my pap test is negative but i am positive for high risk HPV. Since i have only one partner in my whole life and  though the same about him(not surprised) . She told me to not to worry about it and just keep a track on your pap test. But i though you should do some other test like HPV DNA test or colposcopy to further evaluate it. I am really freaking out and thinking what should I do.I have few quetion i will be more than glad if anybody put some insight about it.

1. Should i abstain from sex?
2.How can i prevent HPV infection in future?
3.Does it cause any complecation for pregnancy in future?

Please do reply if you have any info .

Thank You!

Right now, worrying won't help (although it's natural to feel confused/angry/scared/etc). 80% of sexually active ppl have HPV  and never know it..and 90% of the pple who get it suppress/"clear"( your body's immune system makes it undetectable/dormant/unable to be transmitted) the virus/infection on their own from 6 months to 2 yrs. High risk doesn't mean that you have or will get cancer..just means that your already very small risk for certain cancers has been increased. Men RARELY have any symptoms OR health issues. Keeping w/ your reg PAPs is important.

Abstaining from sex in a monogamous relationship is not necessary since you both more than likely have the same strain. You CAN'T reinfect each other w/ the same strain..You can get new strains from new partners..depending on your age you may want to get the Gardisil shot which would protect you against new strains (vaccine protects against low risk strain 6 and 11 and high risk strain 16 and 18..4 most common strains) If your partner smokes..his sperm is dangerous to a woman who has hpv..the toxins from smoking compromises the sperm..if he smokes he should quit or you should use condoms.

HPV doesn't cause complications in pregnancy( or getting pregnant)..just let your ob/gyn know about your desire to start a family and your hpv status.

I found out on Sept 28 that the results from a routine yearly exam came back w/ a normal PAP but tested positive for high risk HPV. My doc told me to come back in 6 months (end of march or beginning of April) for a follow up PAP and HPV test. Hopefully by then the PAP will REMAIN normal and my HPV test will be negative..My gyn told me that I could help my body fight and suppress this infection by reducing stress, eating healthy (dark leafy  and brite veggies and fruits), taking a multi w/ folic acid and L-Lysine (they help in the maintenance/production/removal of damaged cells), NO smoking/drinking... there are naturall supplements out there that can help boost your immune system...keeping your immune system/yourself strong and healthy is the key to keeping hpv dormant in your system

good luck!!
