Shawna,
GM, I was unfamiliar with the med you mentioned so I read up on it, pm me if you would like to discuss you diagnosis.
You meds common side effect on all of the sites I read does not mention depression as a side effect , however it clearly states if deprssion occurs to contact you doctor immediatley. so please, please call your doctor today.
Mary has a really great point and I agree with her, you could be perimenopausal, you hormones are off, you could have some emontional and physical trauma from your physicall problems. Really seems a combination of all these things may be the cause of your depression. I would guess your doctor may have you discontionue this med, let me know please what he or she says do call today !!!!! big hugs,,,Cherie
Cherie may have some thoughts on this that I cannot think of right now, and I do apologize for being in a hurry, but I am off to work in a second. Just wanted to say that this is, or can be, a symptom of menopause (that does not get talked about enough). I recall feeing this way when Perimenopause started.
Frankly, I did not understand it and I recall my husband commented on it, too. When my hormones are out of whack now that I supplement my ovarian hormones since losing ovaries in 2000, I can get really 'inside' myself. It is comforting to close out the world so to speak, even if just for a few minutes. Although I can appreciate 'down time' and time alone, I don't really like needing to go off into another world, so I do have to recognize that this is symptom of hormonal imbalance. I have learned to particularly place the blame on low estradiol levels and low testosterone, too. When things are good with those two hormones, I feel better.
Things will improve (I recall that you are about to have surgery and you had questions about hormone replacement... make sure you're going to get the best hormonal treatment available. Keep researching, too. Things will get better.
Mary
