Hysterectomy/Severe pain, soreness, heavy breast

Hello all. I had a hysterectomy 10 YRS ago. They removed one of my ovaries also. In the 10 YRS I have never had any breast pain or soreness. For the past week and a half both breasts started aching, became really sore with or without a bra. Nipples very tender. When I take off my bra I Ann almost in tears. Has anyone experienced this after so many years went by after having a hysterectomy? Why now? I am due for w mammogram next month. If they are still like they are now there is no way in hell that machine is squeezing on my breasts like this.

Yes I did experience the perimenopause and menopause. All the symptoms in the beginning for a few years and then they all went away. It has been a while since I have had any symptoms. Years. Maybe this is just the end if it all. They are feeling better. Not as painful as they were before. Less pain.

You did not say if you experienced any perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms since your hysterectomy. But if you have not, then it's a good thing it took 10 years because that would indicate that your ovaries were probably functioning fairly normally since your surgery which only happens about half the time. And the ovaries have many health benefits including heart, bones, brain (cognition, memory, mood), sleep, thermoregulation, muscle mass/tone, skin, hair, sexual function, etc.

Thank you. It is just odd it took 10 YRS to start this madness. I will make an appt with my gyno and find out what is going on. Thank You

If your remaining ovary is still functioning, you may be going through  perimenopause. It is associated with lower levels of progesterone and wildly fluctuating levels of estrogen which can cause breast fullness and pain. I have read that taking some evening primrose oil (EPO) can ease the breast tenderness. Some say adding some vitamin B6 and vitamin E to the EPO makes it even more effective.
