uterine ablation

I haven't had hysterectomy but uterine ablation instead.
Supposedly my ovaries are untouched so I'm still producing hormones but I don't get my periods anymore.
My blood pressure went up in the months afterward and I don't feel very feminine anymore.
Has anybody had this procedure or have heard of it?
Thanks

Be very careful and use birth control ~ I have been pregnant twice since my ablation. This is a very dangerous situation to be in and i do not know why doctors don't tell women that they can indeed become pregnant, although it will be life~threatening for both mother and baby. I am emotionally ruined and will never be the same.

Blu, it does not produce sterility.  They tell you to be sure you are done having children when you get an ablation, but that is because if you did get pregnant again, it can be life-threatening to do so without a uterine lining.  The embryo can burrow right into the uterine wall and cause uncontrollable bleeding.  So, yes, they heat the uterine wall and destroy the endometrium, so you don't have a period.  But no, it does not cause sterility.  If you are relying on it for birth control, please talk to your doctor and don't have unprotected sex, because you aren't protected by an ablation.

I think you are referring to an endmetrial ablation, where they 'burn off' the inner wall of the uterus, so that it scars over, producing no periods, plus sterility.  I have had this done, and I am exceedingly happy with it.  I still feel feminine, act feminine, and am feminine, I just don't get the yucky period to go with it.  It's been the best time of my life, not having to worry about periods or getting pregnant (again).  I did not have any blood pressure problems with it.  If you have anymore questions that I can answer for you, let me know... I'm sure this must get better for you!
