I have many cookbooks but I got this little number from an Hawiian cook book ...
3/4 cup sugar
6 eggs ,beaten
41/2 cups milk
1tsp Vanilla
1loaf of Bread cubed, brown or white
1/2 cup seedless raisins
3 tbsp melted butter .
Add beaten eggs to the sugar in a large bowl,.Slowly stir in milk and vanilla . Add and stir in the bread ,raisins and melted butter. Por into 2 9inch square baking pans and place on a rack a little below the center of the oven .Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour, until a table knife placed near the center comes out clean ........the other recipe in this book also Hawaiin says use condensed milk instead of regular milk ...this is a favorite in The UK and can be eaten hot with cream as a dessert or cold .like a cake ...
