CABG , 10 years and still sternum discompfort

1997 had cabg x4 , everything fine except recently have chest burning and discomfort whenever I lift
anything or just casually walking. NO SHORTNEST  OF BREATH. Can this be caused by adhesions or scar
tissue from surgery from 1997?

I am Dr. Arch Miller, and I am a reconstructive surgeon. I am on the reconstructive surgery forum. If the pain you describe is only during chest motion, the it is possible that your sternum is unstable. I would recommend that you get a 3D CT scan and this will give evidence of a fracture, wires breaking and instability. This can be fixed with a device now used in CT surgery called a Talon. Go to the rapidsternalclosure.com web site to see it demonstrated. It is possible that this may be the source of your pain.

Burning chest discomfort  with exercise 11 years after the bypass surgery is likely due to the heart and not the incision or scar.  Talk to your doctor but likely you need at least a stress test.
