Thank you so much for your response and I am sorry you are going through this. My grandmother had Renal Failure and other Thyroid issues, looks like maybe this could be hereditary as well? I have a follow up next month and will do some research so I can ask more questions.
Take Care,
not sure about all your other problems but my EGFR is 53 and have been told that it puts me now at stage 3 chronic kidney disease and am now inder a nephrologist
More questions about the Kidney .....Well, it has been several years and I quite suddenly was overcome with Graves Disease last fall. Had other issue like unexplained blood clots so my options for treatment was the RAI. Tried the anti thyroid meds but affected my liver. Kidney levels went up for a while, now back to 54.81 with Creatinine at 1.1. Not sure what that means, but while in the hospital for the Blood Clots, was told I also had a Kidney Infarction. Does that have any effect on the function? Complete confusion about all of these issues. I do know my Liver levels are up a bit again since I had the RAI treatment. Any input would be appreciated. THX
How are you? Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is a test used to check how well the kidneys are working. According to the National Kidney Foundation, normal results range from 90 - 120 mL/min. Older people will have lower normal GFR levels, because GFR decreases with age.
Thyroid hormones affect the functions of several organs including the heart and kidney. Hypothyroid patients have a decrease in glomerular filtration rate and renal plasma flow that are completely reversed by thyroxine administration.

I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted with your thyroid appointment.
