Protein in Urine

My 5 years old son has been having protein in urine for the last year. This was discovered during a regular check up. His protein has always been +1 and the blood work always been good. He has been seen by a pediatric nephrologist. The doctor now recommends a kidney biopsy as he can’t explain the protein in urine (he has no other symptoms). Anyone has had such experience?
