protein in urine

I drink ALOT of pepsi and not alot of water. Lately I have had 3 uti's over a year. I can actually feel them coming on with some slight pain after I urinate. I work in a facility where I can use dip sticks and it is starting to show abnormal protein. Are there certain foods or drinks that cause too much protein in your urine?

Hi Katie, how are you feeling now? I hope your dipsticks are showing negative protein now. What was the protein level anyway?

Hi,
There is no health value to caffeinated soda. Every element of nutritional importance, except calories, is zero. Caffeine is a diuretic, which causes water to be excreted more rapidly.
The calories is due to the high sugar content in the drinks. This tends to draw water out of the body to compensate.Your not drinking adequqte water is compounding the effect.
All kinds of soft drinks are very acidic, especially colas. In order to neutralise a glass of cola, it takes 32 glasses of high ph alkaline water.
Your body will be in a dehydrated state, this can cause concentration of substances in the urine.Eveally it can cause damage to the kidneys.
The best thing for you to do is to cut down on the Pepsi and start drinking plenty of water(10-12 glasses). This will start reversing the effects I have just described.
The repeat the tests after a couple of weeks. You should be able to tell the difference.
