At my urging, my doctor ran an autoimmune panel. He sent me the results today and it came back with a positive mitochondrial screen and positive mitochondrial titer, indicative of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). I also have two past AFP liver tumor tests, but normal enzymes. My T3 was low as well, which it has been for awhile and my doctor seems to want to connect the two for some reason. Considering my positive liver tumor tests, liver pain, positive fatty liver ultrasound, edema in legs, fatigue, digestive problems and even hair loss, it sounds more to me like true PBC. It explains so many of my issues. Does anyone else here have this? Are the positive mito tests usually always indicative of PBC? I am seeing a new gastro in a few weeks to go over this with him. Thanks.
