How Is Liver Cancer Treated ?

Eight years ago my sister was diagnosed with liver cancer.which had metastisized from the colon. She underwent surgery and the diseased portion of the liver was removed. No cancer was found in the colon. Even though chemotherapy has proved ineffective for liver cancer thay started her on it. After two sessions she refused further treatment, feeling that that it was killing her.

So she went the alternative route. Alternative medicine concentrates on improving all-over health and strengthening the immune system. Further, it specifies supplements that target the diseased area. In her case that was milk thistle, which is known to repair and detoxify the liver. After eight years she is still cancer free, defying all statistics.

Although there is much quackery out there, alternative medicine, in the hands of a properly trained physician, can be life saving.

For primary liver cancer, treatment modalities include resection or transplantation. Other options include radiofrequency ablation, ethanol injection, chemoembolism, or orally administered drugs.  Much depends on the extent of the cancer and the health of the remaining liver.
