Dr. Schiano

Thank you for such a quick response to my question. So, just to clarify,  below results could possibly be caused from the Bactrim or Doxycycline, for my liver enzymes to fluxuate for awhile? of course me not being a Dr. couldn't understand, if I haven't been on the antibiotic's since April, why the liver enzymes would fluxuate from lower to higher range? You're not saying I could get autoimmue hepatitis from this happening, right? just that the antibiotics could trigger temporary autoimmune hepatitis?

Bactrim-3/12
Doxycycline 100 mgs. 4/18
Bactrim-4/23

Blood test results from:

3/24 blood test revealed high Alanine Aminotransferase 59 U/L   Normal range: High 0-55

7/5-Alanine Aminotransferase          100      Normal range:  0-55
Aspartate Aminotransferase         57      Normal range: 5-34

7/11-Alanine Aminotransferase      114
        Aspartate Aminotransferase   60 U/L

7/19-Alanine Aminotransferase    118
        Aspartate Aminotransferase  56

8/2-Alanine Aminotransferase        81
       Aspartate Aminotransferase    40

Thank you once again in assisting me in understanding. I just told my husband, I'm learning alot from you & my research on the liver, that I'm going for my PHD, lol!

i dont think that you necesarily will have more damage but should definitely see someone to ensure that it is nothing else.

I'm really disturbed reading what I read about drug induced autoimmune hepatitis. With my PCP not willing to do anymore bloodtest until October, in which I go to the Gastro. at that time, wondering if it's drug induced autoimmune Hepatitis if I'd have more damage for waiting 7 months before anything get's started for a proper diagnosis. What's your opinion?
