Lymph Nodes and Lung Cancer

What is the surgical procedure to remove a cancerous lymph node, due to a nodule in the right lower lobe of the lung? The lymph node is on the upper right lung, and the other is on the lower right lobe. 2.7 Centimeters. What would the surgical procedure be to remove both?

Hi,

Discuss the surgical procedure with the surgeon. If there are nodes involved in different lobes of the lung, then the feasibility of the surgery may need to be questioned. While it is technically feasible to remove majority of an entire lung, the morbidity associated with this kind of surgery may offset the expected gains from the curative goal of treatment. Also, you are mentioning nodes, not the primary site, which would also determine what surgery to do. Is this really lung cancer meaning the lung is the primary site? Or is this a secondary lung cancer and the goal is to remove metastatic deposits in the lung?
