What is going on - more alert - less symptoms

Can someone help me determine what is going on.  My m-i-law (stage 4 nsclc) seems to be getting better.

She still won't use her oxygen and is only on Hycodan and codine for cough suppresant, but she seems to be getting better.
Yesterday she started talking more and was much more social, not tired and very alert. She even walked a visitor to the door instead of sitting in her chair.  She was getting up and down, her cough was minimal compared to normal (she could walk around without choking)- she didn't need the codine between the hycodan dosage.  Her feet and right calf swelled right up and the feet were quite purple but other than that whe was great.

Today she is still talkative, alert, not coughing much, only slightly swollen and can't seem to catch her breath even with the a/c on so she is a little more tired and has a headache. She vomited today for the first time in a few weeks also.

I don't understand what is going on and the doctor still has not come.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know - this is so hard.

Thanks
Jan

We had an issue with my M I Law last week where she wouldn't eat (1 slice of toast and half a bottle of ensure in 2 1/2 days).  She kept feeling very nauseauous and gaggin.  She wet the bed 3 times last week and had diareha everywhere one day. She was asking us if we were drugging her!  We tried gravol for her stomach and it let her sleep but did not help the stomach.  She is also up most of the night sitting because she does no trust us to give here a sleeping pill to help her sleep.

We called the Doctor on Friday. When she heard he was coming and once he was here she was all of a sudden better  We did get pills to help with the nausea.  She took one Friday afternoon and hasn't needed one since.  She still wet the bed but she has a better memory more of an appetite and is better than she was before she went through this past week.

The doctor just told us not to worry.

Do you have any idea as to why this is happening - if so your imput would be greatly appreciated.

I feel like I am being palyed a fool.  She sits in her chair all day and waits for her meals to be delivered, we have to sit with her for hours on end staring out a window watching traffic and neighbors, get her water etc

Frustrated

Thank you
We have been waiting on the doctor for over a week now but we will need more pills this week so he should be coming.  Hopefully he will give us some information.

It is hard not worrying when you aren't sure of what to expect.

Hi,

You should not worry or get anxious. Take each day as it comes.

Be around her, and make things and everyday life comfortable for her.

The disease process is gradually progressive, though the symptoms may sometimes was and wane.

Do follow up with her doctor as and when advised and if you notice any abnormal symptoms.

Regards.
